Air systems may need to have larger or smaller bore sections depending on the need to maintain consistent pressure through-out the system. By using a reducer (or expander depending on your view) you are able to make all accessories fit all pipe sizes. Remember; if you restrict the flow in one direction; the air will just draw from the next available source. Like water travelling down hill; air is always looking for the path of least resistance
